On 04.12.2020 the working group Eifel took place, for the first time online.

After a short welcome by working group leadership followed info and dates from the association.

Then came the exciting part of the evening. If the technology works, everyone can see and follow the instructions well.

With all self-stirred cosmetic products hygienic working is obligation, since the products are prepared without preservatives. So wash and disinfect your hands beforehand and disinfect all stirring tools with 96% alcohol (spatula, beakers, cream gel…).

Jojoba oil (actually a wax) in the recipes gives stability to the other oils. Please make sure all ingredients are of organic quality.

The shelf life of the products is about 6 months.

Materials needed:

  • Beakers or jam jars
  • spatula, glass stirring rod or yogurt spoon
  • water bath, teapot warmer, bottle warmer or hotplate
  • Cream jars, lip balm tubes
  • Alcohol 96 % and kitchen roll
  • Fine balance 1 g accurate or 0.1 g accurate
  • Hand mixer
  • small mixing bowl
  • small dough scraper
  • small glass bowl for weighing the ingredients

Recipe lip care

makes 3 lip balms a 6 g

  • 6 g beeswax
  • 15 g oil the amount of oil can be divided among the following oils
  • 3 g coconut oil
  • 3 g shea butter
  • 3 g persimmon butter
  • 3 g jojoba oil
  • 3 g hemp, almond or apricot kernel oil
  • 9 drops of essential oil of your choice, e.g. vanilla, grapefruit, litsea, peppermint, lemon balm, tea tree, lemon tea tree, tonka, …

Melt the beeswax together with coconut oil in a beaker (this can also be placed on the stove top or jam jar (in a water bath), a temperature of 70° C is needed here. All other oils in a 2 vessel also melt, but here only a temperature of 40 ° C is needed, because these oils have a lower melting point. If all oils are melted can be added to the beeswax / coconut mixture. Then come also equal to the essential oils and possibly 3 drops of sea buckthorn pulp oil.

Then mix everything and immediately fill into the prepared lip balm tubes or cream jars. The beeswax hardens the oil mixture very quickly and so the lip balm is already solid and applicable after 10 minutes.

Recipe deodorant cream

makes 3 jars a 30 g

  • 30 g shea butter
  • 10 g coconut oil
  • 5 g jojoba oil
  • 25 g baking soda
  • 20 g corn starch, alternatively potato starch
  • 15 drops of essential oils as desired, e.g. lime, sage, grapefruit, peppermint, lemongrass, clary sage, lemon, orange sweet …

Melt the shea butter together with coconut oil and jojoba oil in a beaker. Mix the baking soda and starch together and stir into the oil mixture. Chill the mixture for a few minutes and then pour into the prepared cream jars.

Allow the cream deodorant to cool for a few hours. Rub a pea-sized portion under the armpits, here removal with a spatula is the most hygienic, as this deodorant cream is without preservatives.

Recipe shea cream

yields approx. 100 g

  • 37 g shea butter
  • 20 g cocoa butter
  • 15 g almond oil
  • 15 g coconut oil
  • 15 g jojoba oil
  • 15 drops of essential oils /well-being fragrances as desired: rose geranium, tonka, orange sweet, vanilla, litsea….

Melt all the oils together, the container should be large enough to fit the hand mixer afterwards, and then cold stir with a large spatula. Now add the essential oils. When the mixture starts to get a little cloudy/milky (also put it in the fridge for possibly 15 minutes as well) the mixture is whipped into cream with a hand mixer and can then be poured into cream jars.

It is a very rich care, very suitable for dry stressed skin, such as elbows, feet or hands (just now these are very stressed by the many disinfecting). But it is also a wonderful whole body care.

Much joy with the stirring
